Evaluation & Promotion System

PRE-PRIMARY to GRADE II
At this level emphasis is on motor, oral and creative skills. Children are seen as individuals with individual needs, styles and potential and as such they are continually assessed against the standard set for each level. Teachers monitor how the children are learning as they teach using observation, questioning strategies, class discussions, worksheets, board work etc. Teachers also offer differentiated instruction by gauging assignments to readiness level, with the help of appropriate intervention or extension activities as required.

GRADES III to V
The session is divided into two terms: Term I – April to September; Term II – October to March.
In each term there will be 2 periodic tests of 20 marks in each subjects. To acclimatize Grade 5 students with the middle school assessment pattern, second Periodic Test in each term will be of 40 marks
The Time Table for each Periodic Test will be given in advance. Parents are requested to kindly note the assessment dates given in the school diary.
• Grade III will write periodic tests on English (Literature and Language), Second Language (Literature and Language), Mathematics and Science. Social Science will be assessed on the basis of formative assessment and oral work.
• Grade IV & V on English (Literature and Language), Second Language (Literature and Language), Mathematics, Science and Social Science
• Subjects other than the ones mentioned will be assessed orally. 5% for each subject will be allotted for subject enrichment skills that would include
• Listening and speaking, reading, spelling, creative writing, comprehension (reading & aural) for language
• Mental math and math lab activities for Mathematics
• Map work and project work for Social Studies
• Activities and project work for Science/EVS
• Information Technology will be assessed on the basis of lab activities and regular classwork.
• 5% will be allotted for notebook submission which would cover regularity in assignment completion, neatness and upkeep of notebook.
• Subject enrichment activities will be carried out throughout the term; however they will be evaluated at the end of each term.

Students must have a minimum 75% attendance to secure promotion.
